Walking with positivity opens the door to blessing and opportunity.
It’s true that we all need a little help sometimes staying positive. Life wears on us. We get discouraged at our jobs, our friends disappoint us and the list goes on and on.
Well, I’ve got a few things that might help you manage those days a little better.
1. Start With Gratitude
Before you even get out of bed in the morning, think of one thing that you are grateful for. It could be your job, your home, your family, etc. Use this to start the day in the right way. We have so much to be thankful for. Just the fact that we are given another day is something to be grateful for.
2. Make Your Bed
Yes, this one seems a little odd. But hear me out. Studies have shown that just making your bed in the morning before you leave gives you a sense of accomplishment. Some days we have no motivation to do anything. This strategy can encourage you to be more productive throughout your day which brings you more joy and satisfaction, thereby causing you to live a more positive life.
When life hits you hard, it can be difficult to smile. It takes practice but it is doable. It’s an effort that you must consciously do. Putting a smile on your face not only keeps you from feeling down but it encourages those around you to feel happy too. Have you ever been around someone who is always smiling? It’s like they know something you don’t. It’s because they choose to live in the “positive outlook” world and not the hum-drum poor me world.
4. Encourage Someone Else
When we get out of our own heads and focus on someone else, we forget about what is troubling us. Give a friend or co-worker a compliment or buy them lunch. Have you ever seen someone on the street and admired their coat or shoes? Tell them! This can make a huge difference in their lives, which in turn, makes a huge difference in your life. The is no joy quite like the joy you get from blessing someone else.
5. Draw Strength From Prayer
Prayer is powerful. Not only does it draw you closer to the Savior but it makes you take some time to just stop. We are constantly busy and we go, go, go. When we take time to connect to our Source of strength, joy and peace, we can live a much more joyful and fulfilled life. We are able to give out what we have received. And this truly make a difference in our lives.
